May '23: Europe train trip, pt. IV
May 16th - first day in Berlin.
As soon as we arrived in Berlin, we were welcomed by one of our BIMSB friends who was so nice to help us orientate ourselves in the tangled mess of public transportation routes that is the Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Found our way to the ticket office and quickly got on the slower-than-the-name-would-suggest Schnellbahn.
After leaving our stuff at the hotel, we met with an old friend, currently doing her PhD studies outside the city, and had some super tasty vietnamese food for lunch at the Hoa Rong restaurant.
After lunch, we lost ourselves in Dussmann and, although I had promised to not purchase anything, I ended up leaving the place with more than I bargained for… as usual.
The day continued with a very nice walk up to the Wildling Shoes shop, were I managed to grab the last pair of Tanuki Mori refoxed, mission accomplished! 💪
It was then time to meet up with the rest of the BIMSB group at Prater Biergarten, were we had some beers before moving on for dinner. We picked the Wen Cheng restaurant nearby, to warm us up in the cold weather. I highly recommend their hand-pulled noodles, while their bao did not blow my mind. Also, we went for the “asian spicy” noodles, but next time I will definitely try the “crazy spicy” 🌶️🌶️🌶️
